Bronwyn Blaiklock
A pianist, poet and reformed perfectionist.
A graduate of the Elder Conservatorium of Music (University of Adelaide), Bronwyn has worked as an artistic director, pianist, arts administrator, poet, writer and editor, adjudicator, academic advisor, and educator for over 25 years. Her poetry has appeared in numerous Australian magazines and anthologies and has featured at literary events such as the Overload Poetry Festival (Melbourne), the Short Story Tattoo, and Clunes Booktown. Her first poetry collection, Etching my Initials, was published in 2016 by Melbourne Poets Union. Poet Emilie Zoe Baker called her writing ‘quiet & potent’ with a style that ‘tiptoes into your mind like a reverse thief that leaves little treasure parcels in the imagination’. Bronwyn has contributed to state-wide literary initiatives as a board member of Writers Victoria (2010-2014), and she is currently on the Board of the Ballarat Arts Foundation. She is based in Ballarat.
Bronwyn dreamt up Chisholm St. in the height of the 2021 global pandemic, and launched the venture to provide a performance space for local and regional performers. Since then, Ballarat’s smallest venue has grown a dedicated following. Bronwyn performed her original poetry in the 2020 Be_Hear / Now festival in Ballarat; 2016 Shortlisted for a Varuna Fellowship (poetry collection in draft, Chasing Grace; ‘Well-insulated’ published in Grieve anthology.
