Pure Poetry Project

The Pure Poetry platform explores the meeting point of poetry and music. The project’s aim is to challenge and extend audiences through cross-disciplinary collaboration. Bronwyn Blaiklock founded the Pure Poetry project in 2004, in Wagga Wagga NSW. The inaugural Pure Poetry Recital combined piano, viola, violin and cello repertoire with new writing from poets living in the Riverina region. Renowned composer, Ann Carr-Boyd, featured in the recital and conducted masterclasses with young musicians. Since its inception, the project has grown to foster new cross-disciplinary works through commissions, mentorships, regional tours, masterclasses and public recitals.

More about PURE POETRY.

Royal South Street Society Ballarat Eisteddfod

Bronwyn is a proud sponsor of the Royal South Street Society Ballarat Eisteddfod (RSSS), established in 1891 in the Victorian Goldrush.

Since 2024, Chisholm St. provides a special opportunity to musicians who have performed in the RSSS Schimmel Pianoforte section. Winners of selected categories are invited to feature in the Chisholm St: Young Performers of RSSS concert later the same year. The performance gives these pianists an avenue for valuable professional development, free promotion AND a pay cheque. Find tickets for this series amongst the Chisholm St. offerings.

Intimacy in Isolation

A collaboration with Madame Yum, film-maker and exquisite human, Erin McCuskey, and magical dancer and wonderful human, Lily Paskas. During lockdown we created a film based around Alberto’s Ginastera’s short piano work, Milonga. This wonderful film was funded by Regional Arts Victoria and is presently on the festival circuit.

Bespoke chairs

The director’s chairs at Chisholm St have all been reupholstered out of necessity: it seems no shop is interested in replacing fabric seats any more. We salvage abandoned wooden chairs, repair them and reuse them. Indeed, all the Chisholm St director’s chairs have been rescued in this way. They look very pretty hanging on the shed wall too.

If you have decrepit old wooden director’s chairs, consider donating them to Chisholm St. to be lovingly restored and added to the concert scene. We can also rejuvenate them for you, for a fee. Ask Bronwyn at a concert.

GeeBee Crafts

This new venture is a collaboration between Bronwyn and her daughter, Grace. They design and hand-make crafts for sale at markets and online. Their first stall was at the Christmas Market, Barkly Square, Ballarat, on Friday 13 December, 2024.
